inspo station: lines and colors

One of my favourite moments of the day is when I go to bed, grab my laptop and just look at pretty things, whether they're new magazine layouts, the latest fashion trends or even home decoration. It's kind of like my 'ice-cream and a movie' moment. It's completely delicious. I even think of it as gluttony, as weird as that sounds, just because I practically lick my laptop screen and drool at all the cool stuff I find.
I get way way way too excited about color. It's my guilty pleasure. Thankfully, I have something called a "Graphic Design Major" which serves as a great excuse for it. I keep these two idea books (a leather notebook that I can actually play with in real life and another one which is a folder that's happily sitting on my computer desktop) where I keep e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g I like inspiration-wise.
I like to flip through them whenever my brain decides to take a walk.
One of my goals in life is to have a bathroom with THAT kind of floor.

weekend + new blog designs!

This weekend was a majoooor 'design overdose'. I locked myself in my room with a thermos full of coffee, some popcorn (best jaw-entertainer) and Photoshopped away!
My poor PC really suffered. And my eyes did too.
I did get some "comic relief" time before that, aka shopping on Friday, which I consider my day off from school & design work. I like to think of it as my therapeutic routine.
If you haven't been to Forever21 in some time, I suggest you take a little trip there. A real treasure chest. Plus, your bank account will really appreciate it. That is, if you don't go to Sephora right after.

I CANNOT wait for Thanksgiving break! My brain is so into 'work mode' that I'll automatically wake up around 8:30 AM even if my alarm isn't on. Does that ever happen to you? It's like you have an internal clock disrupting the peace. It sucks. I like it when my brain's in veggie mode.
Bring on the turkey!

Anyway, these are just some of the designs I've been working on and I have to say, I have THE best clients ever. All these girls are so so so sweet. Fantastic bloggers as well, so I really suggest you check them out!!

I think these just might have been made for me

Pardon my French (even though it's technically not my French) but I thought these Urban Outfitters bookmarks & bandages were too cool not to be posted somewhere on this blog.
The bookmarks are brilliant! and I think they would be the only bookmarks to actually help me with my non-organizing skills.
Loud AND clear.
So bueno.

Full look inside a graphic design studio

On Tuesday Liz (classmate) and I got to visit a brilliant graphic design company called Fuszion, which I had emailed asking if we could come in, ask some questions and take a tour of their place. (All of this was for a school presentation). They splendidly said yes, as long as I brought my dog, which I obviously didn't. Their company wouldn't exist by now.
You've probably heard of them because um...they're the bomb. And even if you haven't heard of them, I think you know companies like Warner Brothers, National Geographic, the Smithsonian, Pepsi orCoca Cola. YA. They work for them. And for many, many others. Their portfolio completely blew my mind.
Liz and I practically drooled on their stuff and I tried my best not to go too fan-girl on them, which I actually kind of think I did. Especially in emails. But we'll try not to think about that.
Their studios (located in Alexandria, VA) are the most charming thing! Spacious, airy and just the perfect place to work at.
Taking a look inside their company, which holds six employees, really confirmed the fact that I want to work in a small firm in the future. Fuszion is the perfect example of "great things come in small packages".

I got out of there with the biggest adrenaline rush on the planet, which usually only happens with quad bikes, big waves and roller coasters. That's what design does to me! What can ya do?
And I mean great design, not just any type.

Rick (who we interviewed) gave us SO many pretty things to look at.

Know what else they gave us? T-SHIRTS.
Can they be any cooler?
I really don't think so.
