Did you guys watch the Golden Globes? I know many people thought Ricky Gervais was completely out of line because of his harsh jokes but I thought they were genius. The joke he made about Bruce Willis being Ashton Kutcher's father was priceless. And so was the the one where he listed Robert Downy Junior's drug rehabilitation centers as the places we'd best know him from. I think I laughed for thirty straight minutes. Sylvester Stallone was completely oblivious to the fact that Gervais was mocking him when he said that his movies were of such a diverse nature, quoting "Rambo" and "Rocky", in which he basically plays the same characters. Stallone actually went on to thank Gervais on stage with an appreciative nod which was even funnier because it made him look twice as dumb and  unaware of Gervais' sarcastic remark.
I can't understand how he could have missed his joke when Gervais was clearly mocking every single actor he introduced from the beginning of the show! Did he think he would be the exception among all those great actors? Why in the world would he think that he'd be the only one not getting made fun of? Oh well,he probably has too much collagen in his face to understand anything anyway. Poor guy. No offense to Sylvester Stallone fans by the way! I think he's cool.
Some people didn't find this funny, but heck, I sure did! Would you rather watch a show that feeds celebrities' egos or be entertained by a clever (British) guy who makes fun of them? That's what comedy is and Hollywood should seriously get a sense of humour. I saw a comment somewhere that said "I am glad this happened so people will finally realize how unfunny Ricky Gervais is. Bring Robin Williams on, or even Steve Martin". Steve Martin? Really? I think not. Oh and this comment was really good as well: " At the end of the night I thought his comment about thanking God for making him an atheist was really uncalled for. I thought that was a very sad attempt to be funny. This man just seems very sad to me". Ah my gashh both that comment and Ricky Gervais' joke made me laugh. A lot. Come on people, don't take things too seriously. And a word to the person who left that comment somewhere; Ricky Gervais is everything but a sad man. He's brilliant and we should give him more credit for having the guts to make fun of such powerful people and just pushing the envelope.
Oh and may I just say that Robert De Niro is the most talented actor to have ever lived. When they summed up his career in three minutes I was blown away by how much he has accomplished. Bravo!

Now for the red carpet. I NEVER miss the red carpet! Angelina Jolie is always among my top 3 favourites, she's so gorgeous whah. Not a big fan of Olivia Wilde, or of Anne Hathaway for that matter (I find her SO annoying) but they both looked incredible. Last but not least; Catherine Zeta Jones. I think she might just be the most beautiful woman alive, for reals. Megan Fox ain't got nothin' on her!

I'll leave you with Ricky Gervais' opening monologue (I died of laughter with this shizzle)

All these dresses were beautiful! Another dress that I LOVED (although some people hated) was Leighton Meester's...ha, I can see how it would be a hit or miss.

I agree! Love Ricky Gervais, though he was much more funny last year imo. I love how he mocked 'the Tourist', 'cause that one is just rubbish! And I really don't like Angelina, but I agree she looked fab in that Versace number. :)

GG's were great & very entertaining this year! I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of Gervais, but lots that he said was hilarious!

I LOVED Olivia Wilde and January Jones best...and I especially loved seeing lots of my favorites...Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr and Zac Efron (yep I'm in love with a younger man.)

And btw, I love your little outfit! You are so fabulously beautiful, my friend! :)

I can't believe I missed this! For me, the best bit about any awards ceremony, is when all the stars walk down the red carpet and I can see what they are all wearing. So thanks for posting some photos!

i LOVE the way you put that! i am in the uk right now and missed the awards but there deffently is a lot of buzz about the whole "scandal" and im hearing all about how "hollywood" is very unimpressed with ricky gervais blah blah blah but of course the english just think that the americans don't have a sense of humour and after reading your post, I couldn't agree more! i love ricky gervais, he is hilarious and i agree 100% about him having the guts to make fun of the celebrities....i guess since most of the time they are so used to having their ass kissed that they just aren't use to someone poking fun lol if they need to they can go home and wipe their tears with their million dollar bills :)

any way i just want to say that i tots agree with you ;)

luv ya

i am *definitely* with you on RG. he was REALLY funny ... hollywood needs to learn to poke fun at themselves. as if everyone doesn't make these jokes already.

however .. the funniest moment was natalie portman's godawful acceptance speech! i nearly died of embarrassment FOR her!
